Dr. Nicholas Chesher is a licensed clinical psychologist. He completed his undergraduate work at Concordia University, Irvine and earned his Master's Degree and Doctorates' Degree at Alliant International University, San Diego. Dr. Chesher has been part of the team at IPSC since 2018.
Dr. Chesher’s practice focuses on using second and third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to help adults and older adults with: diminished mood, increased anxiety, increased stress, navigating interpersonal difficulties, grief and loss, coping with the diagnosis of medical conditions and enacting behavioral / habit changes to accommodate new medical conditions. Dr. Chesher also provides consultation services to organizations in San Diego, conducting presurgical psychosocial evaluations for solid organ transplant and other surgical interventions.
Dr. Chesher has a Master’s Degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with an emphasis in health psychology. His background includes experience in inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient and community mental healthcare settings. Dr. Chesher also has extensive experience providing psychological assessment, consultation-liaison and brief intervention services in primary medical settings.
His research interests focus on the interface of medical health and psychological wellbeing and is an active committee member on doctoral dissertation projects at a local university. In his personal time, Dr. Chesher enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and walking his two dogs.
